2017 Bondar Fiano

from 28.00

When a friend has some extra fiano on his vineyard, what else to do but have a little play? We made this tiny batch of fiano from the (very popular) Lacey block three kilomteres due east of the pristine Maslin Beach coastline. Hand-picked in the cool of first light, fermented naturally in ceramic egg, with some time on skins. No fining, filtration or additions to speak of, until a small amount of sulphur at the end to help it into bottle. A little ode to one of the Vale’s rising star white varieties, from us.

70 dozen bottles made.

$28.00 in any six (including mixed six-packs)

$30.80 per bottle

Shipping is a flat rate fee of $5 to addresses in metro Adelaide and $15 elsewhere in Australia.

"A bright, acid driven year. From Ben Lacey’s McLaren Vale vineyard (think Lino Ramble, Coriole, Cradle of Hills etc). Spends its time fermenting in a ceramic egg, with a portion in barrel on skins for its ferment. Bondar’s first crack at fiano. About 70 dozen produced.

Pear and quince, Paris almonds, faint pepper notes. Quite the pretty perfume. Click of acidity, fresh fruit feel, lick of chalkiness/faint pumice-like texture. Lovely dry, bony finish. This has zing and perkiness on its side. So mouthwatering and pure-feeling. Totally delicious." - 92 points, Mike Bennie, The Wine Front
